Follow the Evidence Left by the Browser
When a Ledger Live download fails, the browser’s record can tell you whether the request was rejected, interrupted, completed, or followed by file removal. Today’s official pages use Ledger Wallet as the app name. Keep the exact status and saved destination before launching another attempt.
Do not test the installer while its transfer remains incomplete. A package that exists on disk can still be partial, and a completed transfer can later disappear into quarantine. Those two observations need different investigations.
Check the Local Save Conditions
Make sure the destination is available and writable in your ordinary user session. A disconnected external location or a directory restricted by policy can prevent saving even with healthy internet access. Check storage on the actual volume rather than assuming space elsewhere is sufficient.
Use a suitable local folder for a controlled retry. Do not grant every process unrestricted filesystem access to resolve one download. If security software recorded a removal, retain the detection and path instead of saving another renamed copy to avoid the same event.
Recreate One Trusted Request
Return to the official Ledger distribution page and select the intended platform. This avoids repeatedly retrying an old direct URL whose context you cannot establish. An installer sent through an unsolicited message is not an appropriate substitute.
Observe one transfer with the browser view open. Record whether progress begins and where it stops. Repeated requests in several browsers can create confusing duplicate files while hiding which network or security event caused the failure.
Compare the Failure Boundary
It Never Receives Data
Check the browser’s actual refusal, the source URL, and any genuine network-access portal. A certificate warning should remain an investigation, not be answered with an unfamiliar certificate supplied by a helper.
It Stops During Transfer
Compare a trusted second connection while keeping the same official route and target folder. If that changes the outcome, investigate the original network’s stability, filtering, or proxy policy with the relevant administrator.
It Finishes but the File Cannot Be Used
Move from transfer diagnosis to package integrity and compatibility. Ledger’s verification reference applies to the matching file and release. A later launch error does not mean the browser is still downloading.
Preserve Security Controls While Investigating
An alert about a suspicious file and a full disk are not the same problem. Read the reported category, verify the source, and seek current publisher guidance when a verified release is flagged. Broadly disabling browser or antivirus protection removes useful evidence rather than authenticating the package.
Downloading host software needs no hardware PIN or recovery-word entry. If a page requires wallet validation before releasing its file, leave it and establish the legitimate route independently.
Download Failure FAQ
Can my Ledger device repair the transfer?
The transfer concerns the host, save destination, and network. Keep the signing configuration unchanged while investigating those components.
Should I download an older version because it is smaller?
Package size does not establish compatibility or safety. Prefer the supported current release unless a specific official workaround justifies another choice for the exact case.
Which details help support most?
Provide the platform, browser, official option selected, precise status, destination type, and result of a trusted-network comparison. Do not attach account backups or secrets to a file-download report.
