Preserve What the Corruption Message Names
If macOS reports the Ledger Live Mac app as corrupted, save the message before changing files. The application is currently Ledger Wallet. A damaged download, altered application bundle and unreadable local profile are different objects, and cleanup can erase evidence about which one failed.
Do not interpret a computer warning as validation of the hardware recovery phrase. Keep the Ledger’s working configuration intact while assessing the app. Its PIN and offline backup do not repair file integrity on a Mac.
Compare Objects and Appropriate Evidence
| Object under investigation | Useful evidence |
|---|---|
| Downloaded installer | Official source, completed transfer and matching publisher reference |
| Installed bundle | Location tested, copy result and macOS alert |
| Local account profile | Exact read error, user context and documented data-repair guidance |
A checksum result for the installer does not automatically explain a warning about another saved copy. Likewise, replacing executable files can leave a problematic local profile untouched. Tie every result to its actual file and purpose. If a warning identifies a location outside your intended installation, inspect that discrepancy before replacing a different bundle.
Establish the Original Distribution
Reach the Ledger desktop download page independently and obtain the appropriate Mac package. Keep the file unmodified while checking it. A repackaged version advertised as repaired introduces another publisher question rather than establishing the original one’s integrity.
Use the matching Ledger verification information if an installer comparison is needed. Do not take a digest from the same unknown site as the executable and describe that as independent authentication.
Test Normal Replacement Before Broader Removal
When the verified package is suitable, follow its ordinary installation instructions. Quit an idle old app if required, let copying complete and open the Applications destination directly. Confirm which shortcut you normally use afterward.
Read Apple’s app security reference for the precise alert. Damage, unverified developer and harmful-content warnings should not be treated as interchangeable. If a fresh verified copy still receives a serious warning, report its details instead of removing security enforcement.
Avoid Destroying Useful Local Context
A full profile reset can remove account names, preferences and some service records. Only perform it for a relevant documented reason, after preserving necessary non-secret records privately and confirming the initialized hardware is available.
For a missing balance after repair, establish network and account identity before creating a transaction. For a crash, preserve process evidence. Neither condition is solved by supplying recovery words to a supposed corruption checker or by factory-resetting the physical wallet.
Corruption Questions
Can a security override repair the package?
Changing enforcement can change the launch result without rebuilding a damaged file or proving origin. Verification and appropriate replacement answer different questions from permission to run.
Does an app rename mean corruption?
Ledger Live’s transition to Ledger Wallet can explain a new label. Confirm the selected publisher release and object instead of treating the name alone as evidence of damage.
What is safe to include in diagnostics?
Share the relevant technical message, package reference and tested path through official support. Review logs for account details, and exclude recovery words, PINs and private keys entirely.
