Describe One Crash as an Incident
If Ledger Live keeps crashing on Mac, describe one complete occurrence before attempting several repairs. The app is currently named Ledger Wallet. Support can investigate a sequence such as opening an existing account and then seeing the process exit more effectively than an unexplained statement that the wallet is broken.
A helpful incident record identifies the time, application location, visible step and final system message. Do not include recovery words or screenshots of the backup. Technical evidence can describe the process without giving anyone control of the wallet.
Capture the Boundary That Fails
- Did the process exit, or did an unresponsive window remain?
- Was the same action successful in the previous session?
- Does the crash require hardware to be connected?
- Is one account or provider involved, while other navigation works?
- Did macOS or the application report a named component?
Answer only what you observed. A recent system update or new dock is a lead to test, not proof that it caused the failure. Preserve the original record before changing that environment.
Establish a Supported Reference Copy
Compare your Mac configuration with the requirements for the current Ledger desktop release. Confirm the Applications copy and its version. A damaged or incomplete program can justify normal replacement, but a new download alone does not change a shortcut pointing elsewhere.
Use Apple’s ordinary app stability steps for a controlled reopening and restart comparison. Do not terminate a process during an active Ledger OS installation. Hardware maintenance needs the exact model procedure if it fails.
Make One Comparison per Attempt
For an ordinary startup test with no hardware update active, compare launch without the Ledger attached. If it is stable until a specific hardware action, record that transition. If the crash follows one service panel, investigate that narrower trigger rather than cycling through cables.
Keep a note of each change and outcome. A successful result after five simultaneous modifications does not tell you which condition mattered, making future maintenance harder to assess.
Know What Reinstallation Leaves Behind
Program files and a local profile can be handled separately. Replacing the official application may retain account data, so the same crash after reinstall does not establish that all local causes were tested. Ledger’s desktop crash reference should be read for the current platform and release.
Only follow a documented profile reset after preserving necessary public records and confirming access to the correct initialized device. Keep working hardware configured. Changing its keys or entering a phrase into another app cannot repair a Mac process.
Incident-Report Questions
Should I collect every system log?
Use relevant reports tied to the observed time. Review attachments for account and personal information, and send only what official support needs through its intended private channel.
What if the crash follows transaction approval?
Check the actual chain result before repeating the payment. A process exit can occur after another system has already received the request.
Does a new computer rule out compatibility issues?
No. Its installed system, application edition and package still matter. Recent hardware should not replace the current publisher requirements check.
