Replace an Arbitrary Deadline with Visible Checkpoints
If a Ledger Live Mac update is stuck, elapsed time alone cannot identify the missing step. The companion app now uses the Ledger Wallet name. Watch for evidence that the transfer, copy or relaunch has advanced, and preserve the text of the current checkpoint.
First check the hardware screen. If Ledger OS is actively installing, follow that operation’s instructions and keep its connection stable. The rest of this article concerns ordinary replacement of the Mac application.
Checkpoint One: Has a New File Arrived?
Compare the updater or browser’s reported transfer state with the file saved locally. Check storage and trusted internet access if retrieval stopped. Do not repeatedly open incomplete files or substitute a privately supplied installer to save time.
For a supported manual update, select the current Mac package at the Ledger download hub. Keep its source and selected release clear. A new file is one checkpoint, not confirmation that the installed program changed.
Checkpoint Two: Can the Intended Copy Be Replaced?
Look for a Finder transfer, a hidden prompt or a message that the old application remains open. Finish normal tasks and quit an idle app if replacement requires it. Review authorized destination access rather than changing broad privacy settings.
If the installer provides cancellation, use its normal procedure before another attempt. Several competing copies can obscure which one is waiting. A work-managed Mac may need an administrator’s review of the exact restriction.
Checkpoint Three: Which Release Reopens?
Start the Applications copy directly and inspect its version. If it differs from what your Dock link opens, resolve the launch target. A new installation image can sit beside an old daily-launch copy without either being the currently intended program.
If the new process opens but one account keeps loading, the application replacement may already be complete. Compare the relevant service at Ledger’s incident dashboard and investigate account data separately from the updater.
When the Hardware Prompt Is Actually the One Repeating
A request to continue firmware maintenance belongs to another workflow. Ledger’s Update and Bootloader guide distinguishes device models and observed states. Use that exact continuation procedure after a failure, rather than treating it as a reason to repeat Mac installation indefinitely.
Do not reset working hardware or enter recovery words into the Mac to clear a prompt. Keep account records and transaction references available privately. A stalled interface does not cancel a submitted transaction or reconstruct missing signing keys.
Checkpoint Questions
How can I demonstrate progress to support?
Describe the last checkpoint reached, the text still displayed and the result of one controlled attempt. Include the Mac and app versions without guessing that a quiet window proves inactivity.
Should cache clearing be added to every update?
No. Cache concerns local data used for account visibility. It does not complete a program copy, supply missing write access or finish an interrupted download.
Does a relaunch prove the update succeeded?
Inspect the release and installed location too. A window can reopen from an older copy, or the new app can open while an unrelated remote feature remains unavailable.
