Distinguish an Exit from a Disappearing Window
When Ledger Live opens and then closes, determine whether the process actually terminates. Ledger Wallet is the current application name. An updater restart, hidden window, and unexpected process exit can all look similar without the operating system’s task and error information.
Record the last visible step and how consistently it occurs. Closing before onboarding, after local unlock, and after opening one asset are narrower cases than a general claim that the app always crashes immediately.
Capture the Trigger Without Repeating Financial Actions
Reproduce only harmless navigation where possible. If the first failure followed signing, preserve the existing hash or provider reference and inspect its state before authorizing another attempt. A missing success screen does not establish that nothing reached the network.
Keep the model and device state in the report if hardware was involved. Do not interrupt a progressing Ledger OS operation to collect an ordinary host-crash example. Use the correct device procedure if firmware itself is in a failed special state.
Compare the Environment with the Last Working Session
List recent changes such as host updates, system upgrades, security detections, restored profiles, or moved application files. Check available space and current platform compatibility. Correlation is useful context, but it should not be presented as proof of cause.
Launch one verified installed destination directly instead of relying on an old shortcut. Another local copy or user profile can change the test, so identify exactly which object produces the exit.
Read the Evidence by Repair Scope
Program Files
For incomplete replacement or a justified binary repair, use the supported package from Ledger’s official app source. Complete normal installation and retain any security refusal rather than suppressing it to reach a window.
System Components
If a crash report identifies a runtime condition, use current platform guidance. Ledger’s desktop crash reference can help identify applicable cases. Obtain a justified system component from its original vendor, not a random DLL or automated registry-repair site.
Local Profile
An ordinary reinstall can preserve local user data. If evidence points there, follow documented profile repair after keeping necessary non-secret records and confirming access to the initialized device. A broader reset should not be smuggled into every package replacement.
Confirm the Specific Failure Is Resolved
After a supported repair, open the intended version and repeat the harmless sequence that previously caused the exit. Check related account identity and refresh separately. A successful welcome screen does not prove every provider or network feature works.
If only one account or panel remains affected, report that narrower trigger. Continuing to describe it as a universal launch crash can hide the useful fact that the main application now opens normally.
Unexpected-Exit FAQ
Is elevated launch a useful default?
Administrator or root access can conceal permission symptoms and create new ownership problems. Use normal app access unless a particular justified installation step requires otherwise.
Should I downgrade through arbitrary old releases?
An old client may differ in security, services, and profile compatibility. Prefer supported current software and follow an explicit official workaround only when its scope matches.
What should a crash attachment contain?
Include the relevant sequence, versions, error, and reviewed system report. Remove unnecessary personal or account details and never add passwords, recovery words, device PINs, or private-key material.
