Separate Phone Installation From Wallet Initialization
When installing Ledger Live on Android, decide whether you are connecting an existing Ledger or creating a wallet on genuinely new hardware. The phone application is now called Ledger Wallet. A fresh installation on the phone does not itself make the hardware new or require another recovery phrase.
This distinction prevents an empty first-launch screen from becoming an unnecessary wallet change. Begin with the official software, then choose onboarding based on the device’s real state.
Reach the App Through the Verified Android Route
Open the Ledger download page independently and follow Android to the official Google Play package. The technical package identifier still contains ledger.live, while the public branding says Ledger Wallet.
Check the current listing’s eligibility for your particular phone. A browser article naming an older Android minimum does not establish that the newest build will install. If Play reports a requirement or account error, resolve that message instead of choosing an imitation with a similar icon.
Keep the store’s protection active. An APK mirror, modified build, or privately supplied installation attachment is not part of the normal download route. No installation form should need the wallet backup or a payment to activate the app.
Finish Delivery Before Testing the Ledger
Wait for the store to complete installation and open the application. If it remains pending, investigate phone storage, network access, and the Play queue first. Bluetooth or USB changes cannot repair an application package that has not finished arriving.
For ordinary phone maintenance, follow the manufacturer-supported update controls. Record any installation failure clearly so the next step addresses software delivery rather than hardware recovery.
Choose the Device’s Supported Connection
For a Bluetooth-capable model such as Nano X, Stax, or Flex, start the connection inside the app, grant the supported discovery permission, and compare pairing information on both screens. Android permission labels can differ by release and manufacturer.
Nano S Plus uses a supported USB OTG/data arrangement on compatible Android phones because it has no Bluetooth. Check the whole cable and adapter path. The hardware lighting up confirms power, while recognition requires a usable data connection and appropriate access.
Follow the Matching Wallet Branch
For existing hardware, unlock it using its own controls and complete the genuine check. Add supported accounts on their intended blockchains or use the current supported account-sharing method. Inspect actual public account details rather than relying only on transferred labels.
For new hardware, create the PIN and recovery backup through its documented device process. Keep the words privately offline. Do not type or photograph them on Android, and do not use a phrase prewritten by another person.
If a Ledger OS installation is already progressing, leave its host and connection stable until completion. Ordinary app restarts and cable experiments belong after that operation, not in the middle of firmware work.
Installation Questions
Is Hardware Pairing Enough to Add Every Account?
No. Device communication and account discovery are different tasks. Select the supported chain accounts deliberately and let their information load.
How Can I Check Setup Without Sending Funds?
Confirm account identity and verify a receive address on the Ledger display. Those checks provide meaningful evidence without creating an unnecessary transaction.
